We are more than half-way done with our school year! Every site has been supportive to our negotiations team by holding signs, holding banners and attending School Board meetings. We thank you! Our Team reached a Tentative agreement on Thursday for compensation! We will start 10 minute meetings explaining the TA and after parent conferences are done, the following week, conduct a General Membership meeting.
The TA -
2017-18 school year: Effective January 01, 2018: 2% added to the salary schedules.
2018-19 school year: Effective July 01, 2018: salary schedule adjusted to the COLA (2.51%).
Effective January 01, 2019: salary schedule adjusted by 2.50%.
Contingency language: If Fall 2018 enrollment exceeds the projected enrollment by 60 students, DUSD and DUEA agree to return to the bargaining table in good faith to discuss use of those funds.
We are also working on a safety, security and discipline grievance at Royal Oaks and preparing for the District's reduction in force that goes to the Board for approval March 8th. The positions up for reduction are all the intermediate positions at the Village as next year we move everyone to the tk-8th grade sites. All temps and probationary teachers throughout the district will also be given notice to make positions available for the displaced NV tenured teachers. Once tenured NV teachers are placed, the district will start calling back probationary teachers in order of seniority and credential with the intention that they will all be given a position by May. DHS will be returning to a 6 period day with the study table classes going away and those study table teachers returning to the English Dept. Being that the high school is in declining enrollment, there may also be positions reduced there as well. I would like to encourage all of you to go out to the March 8th Board Meeting to show your support to all of our members facing a lay off or displacement, myself included!
